Best video capture device for Mac?

Posted by # February 1st 12:52 PM

My dad’s in a process of moving our whole collection of old VHS videos to DVD. They have an iMac G5 with a dvd burner so afaik all that’d be needed would be a good firewire video capture device. Does anyone of you have any experience with such things? It would need to support analog video and audio input and be easy to setup.

I’m looking for the same thing. I’m new to the Apple/Mac world and want to use my new MacBook Pro for converting video either from a VCR or Tivo to a DVD. Let me know if you get any good advice. I would appreciate it.

    Don,

We ended up buying a Datavideo DAC-100. It has received fairly good reviews around the net. We ordered it from Adorama, which is a trustworthy camera reseller and the price was a lot cheaper than anywhere in Europe ($225 including global courier).
